CWU unveils new student scholarship application website: Scholarship Central

There’s a new and easier way to apply for scholarship funds at Central Washington University. The program, called Scholarship Central, is a one-stop shop for students applying for scholarships available at CWU.

“The idea behind this initiative is to consolidate all of the various scholarship programs, which in the past required separate applications, into a single online application form for scholarships available through Central,” said Scott Wade, vice president for university advancement and executive director of the CWU Foundation.

“The site also contains links to recommended websites for state and national scholarship programs and a list of outside private donor scholarships,” he continued. “We want to make it easier for students who qualify for scholarships to obtain the financial resources they need.”

Wade said students can apply via the new web site application for scholarships for next year (2018-19) between October 1, 2017 and February 1, 2018. The new site,, replaces the CWU General Scholarship Application. The site also lists additional resources for scholarships not found within the Scholarship Central application.

University officials note that every year some available scholarships are not claimed by students because they don’t know about their existence. Scholarship Central would make information about available scholarships more accessible and easier to find.

Available scholarships include many that are based on financial need as well as funds for students in various majors, students from certain geographic regions, transfer students, and non-traditional students.

“This is an opportunity that donors and other scholarship resources want to provide to students,” Wade said. “We really want to encourage students to take advantage of these funds.”
