CWU Trustees to Meet May 17-18

On Thursday, May 17, the Central Washington University Board of Trustees will meet in executive session, as allowed under RCW 42.30.110, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. in Barge Hall, Room 304 on the Ellensburg campus. Following the executive session, a work session will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Barge Hall, Room 412.

The work session will include a discussion of the CWU aviation program, with guests Kittitas County Commissioner, Paul Jewell, and Kittitas County Public Works Director, Mark Cook. Trustees will also receive a briefing on the North Campus Expansion construction projects currently underway.

Additionally, the board will discuss a tuition increase planned for the 2018-2019 school year. RCW 28B.15.067 dictates that tuition for full-time resident undergraduates “may increase by no more than the average annual percentage growth rate in the median annual wage for Washington for the previous fourteen years.” This year, that rate is anticipated to be about 2 percent or $120 per year.

Board and Cabinet members will attend a social dinner at 6:00 p.m., in the newly remodeled Samuelson Building on the CWU campus. No university business will be conducted at the dinner.

On Friday, May 18, the BOT business meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. in Barge 412 and will include a public comment period.

Rules pertaining to the public comment period are available at www.cwu.edu/trustees. To participate in the public comment period, speakers must identify themselves and the topic to be addressed via e-mail to cwu.president@cwu.edu by Tuesday, May 15, at 5:00 p.m.
