Katelyn Schiller was recognized for her Distinguished Performance by an Actress, for her role as Waki/Traveler in Icarus: A New Noh in English at the 45th Annual Kennedy Center American College Regional Theater Festival at American River College in Sacramento, California.
Out of 217 productions from 64 colleges in the region, Icarus was one of five selected for the regional festival in California. The play was written by CWU Theatre Arts Professor Elise Edie-Forier and directed by George Bellah 3, also a Theatre Arts professor.
Award winners at the regional level will go on to the national festival at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, in April.
Schiller is currently earning her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance at Central Washington University, graduating in 2013. Schiller also performed in Challenger with the Central Theatre Ensemble.
