As a program of The American Legion, Boys State developed from the concept that our youth should be offered a better perspective of the practical operation of government; that the individual is an integral part and commensurately responsible for the character and success of his government. As such, it is an activity of high educational value, born out of a need for youth training in practical citizenship.

American Legion Boys State is easily classified as a leadership action program where qualified male high school juniors take part in a practical government course designed to develop in the young citizens a working knowledge of the structure of government and to impress upon them the fact that government is just what they make it.

Chamber Music Madness Kairos Lyceum

This ten-day conference includes a variety of musical and non-musical activities including 25 hours of faculty led rehearsal/coaching, 16 hours of unsupervised student led rehearsals, 5-15 hours of individual practice and/or free time, three student concerts, two Festival Concerts (featuring artist faculty as well as the Lyceum Chamber Orchestra) and daily, one to two hour long mini-seminars aimed at putting the creative process in perspective by exploring non-musical arts and disciplines ranging from pottery to karate.

The 6th Annual WAPWU Stewards College has been scheduled for July 26th through August 2nd 2013. It will be held in Ellensburg, WA on the beautiful Central Washington University campus for the 5th consecutive year.

As always there will be at least two individual classes running simultaneously (beginning Stewards and Advanced Stewards). We are also trying to create our own Arbitration Advocate training as an individual class or inconjunction with the Advanced Class.
