The Lion Rock Visiting Writers Series at Central
Washington University welcomes writer Karen Spears Zacharias, Tuesday,
January 29, 2013.
Zacharias is an investigative journalist and non-fiction
writer. She will give a reading from her book A Silence of Mockingbirds: the
Memoir of a Murder (MacAdam/Cage, 2012) in the SURC Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
Zacharias’s book describes the tragic murder of Karly Sheehan—the story
behind Karly’s Law. A Silence of Mockingbirds was nominated for
Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award 2013. Zacharias has been featured on
Huffington Post, Good Morning America, and CNN. Her personal commentaries and
interviews have also been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post,
USA Today, NPR's “All Things Considered” and “Morning Edition” and
many more. Zacharias is a dedicated blogger and teaches in the Communication
department at Central Washington University.The Wildcat Shop
will feature Zacharias’s book and will sell copies at the event.
