- Executive business editor, Hartford Courant, 1986-87.
- Reporter, assistant city editor and business editor, The Oregonian, 1988-2008. I covered business, technology, health care, the Catholic priest sex abuse scandal, Portland subcultures and special projects.
- Co-founder and CEO, Nozzl Media Inc., 2009-2010. Nozzl was a development-stage company that built a real-time news-and-social-media aggregation engine for news organizations.
- Co-founder and CEO, Nozzl Real-Time Technologies Inc., 2010-present. Nozzl is a successor company to Nozzl Media that focuses on building curated, targeted news streams that keep business websites updated automatically.
- Adjunct instructor, journalism, Clark College, 2013. Taught introduction to reporting and writing, multimedia journalism, and social media exploration.
Research Interests: Future of journalism, convergent media, social media.
