CWU’s Honors Convocation will be held Friday, June 9, at 7:00 p.m in McConnell Auditorium. The annual event celebrates the achievements of the President's Scholars, Dean's Scholars, graduates of the William O. Douglas Honors College and the recipient of the Master's Thesis award.
Students completing degree requirements during the summer will not be eligible for honors recognition until the following spring commencement ceremony. At least 75 of the credits required for the degree must be earned at Central with a minimum of 60 credits in courses taken on the A-F grading scale.
To qualify as a President's Scholar, a student must have a cumulative grade point average that places them in the top 1 percent of their college (College of the Sciences, College of Arts and Humanities, College of Business, and College of Education and Professional Studies).
To qualify as a Dean's Scholar, a student must have a cumulative GPA that places them in the next 5 percent of their college.
The cumulative GPA is based on all higher education grades including courses taken at community colleges and other four-year institutions.
Students who are academically qualified for honors at convocation will receive an invitation to this year's event.
Students meet in Shaw Smyser at 6:20 p.m. on June 9th. Room numbers are on the invitation letters and are also posted on the entry doors of Shaw Smyser. Cap and gown for students at this ceremony is optional.
All faculty and staff are encouraged to attend to help acknowledge and celebrate these accomplishments. Faculty who plan to participate in the processional are asked to wear full regalia and meet in Shaw Smyser at 6:20 p.m.
The doors to McConnell Auditorium open at 6:40 p.m.
