Graduate Hooding and Commencement Ceremony
Friday, June 9th, 6:00 p.m.
CWU-Ellensburg, Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Gymnasium.
The purpose of the Graduate Hooding and Commencement Ceremony is to celebrate the successful completion of all Master’s and Education Specialist (EdS) degrees. This is the official commencement for graduate students.
This ceremony requires faculty and students to be dressed in full regalia. During the ceremony, the name of each graduate is called. The graduate will then proceed onto the stage with his or her faculty mentor. The faculty mentor will place a hood over the head of the graduate, signifying his or her success in completing the graduate program. The Dean of Graduate Studies will then congratulate the graduates individually by presenting them with a diploma cover. A professional photographer will take individual graduation photos at this ceremony.
