Top-rope Belay Certification Clinic
2.11, 3.4: These Mondays • 5-7 PM
1.5, 1.12, 1.26, 2.2, 2.9, 2.23, 3.2, 3.9: These Saturdays • 10 AM - Noon
$15 • Climbing Wall
Fee covers equipment & belay certification exam fee. This clinic is designed to teach the skills needed to pass a Top-Rope Belay Exam.
Rappelling Clinic
1.28 & 1.30, Monday, Wednesday • 5 - 7 PM • Climbing Wall • $5
This two-day clinic will provide you an introduction to the techniques needed in order to rappel. Join us and learn how to get off of a route once you have climbed to the top.
Valentine’s Day Top-Rope Belay Certification Clinic
2.14, Thursday • 5-7 PM • Climbing Wall • $5
Cheap date? Check out the Top-Rope Belay Course for couples! This clinic is designed to teach the skills needed to pass a Top-Rope Belay exam. Maximum six couples per clinic
Beginning Technique Clinic
1.16, Wednesday • 5 - 7 PM • Climbing Wall • $5
Have you been struggling to get a boulder problem or top-rope route? Well, this clinic will provide you the knowledge of how to improve your footwork, endurance, and how to overall make you a better climber.
Advanced Technique Clinic
3.5, Tuesday • 5 - 7 PM • Climbing Wall • $5
This clinic is targeted at more experienced climbers that have reached a plateau in their climbing. Climbing plateaus are very common and often take some new tricks of the trade in order to overcome them. If this experience sounds familiar, the advanced technique clinic is a must. Recreation membership or guest pass required.
Route Setting Clinic
2.4, 2.6 • Monday & Wednesday
5 - 7 PM • Climbing Wall • $5
This is a two-day clinic that will introduce you to setting new routes on the climbing wall. Come move rocks with us!
Lead Climbing Certification Clinic
1.15 & 1.17, Tuesday & Thursday
5 - 7 PM • Climbing Wall • $20
Fee covers equipment and lead belay certification exam. This clinic is designed to teach the skills needed to pass a lead climbing exam. Must be Top-Rope Belay certified!
Climbing Certification Exams
Climbing Certifications are required to belay other participants. These are annual certifications that provide you clearance for the CWU indoor climbing program only. Please check with climbing staff in order to arrange an exam time. Exams can be requested during any open hours and it is up to the staff's discretion/availability to offer the exam.
Top-rope Belay Certification Exam
During Open Climbing Hours • Climbing Wall • $5
All climbers must annually pass a belay certification exam in order to belay other participants on a top-rope belay system.
Lead Climbing Certification Exam
During Open Climbing Hours • Climbing Wall • $6
All climbers must annually pass a lead climbing exam in order to climb or belay other participants on a lead climbing belay system.
