The CWU chapter of the Student Affiliate members of the American Chemical Society has received a Commendable Chapter Award for its 2012-2013 activities. There are three levels of awards given to student chapters nationwide based on an annual report that is submitted at the end of each academic year (outstanding, commendable and honorable mention). There are over 900 student affiliates nationally, and commendable awards are given to less than 100 chapters. The chapter president last year was Amber Wilson, junior chemistry major. Faculty advisors were Dr. Dion Rivera and Dr. Tim Sorey.
