CESME strives to build learning communities of math and science educators with both university and P-12 collaborators. Within the university, CESME offers a forum for math and science educators to share expertise and work together to implement teaching best-practices. Partnerships of CWU faculty and P-12 professionals allow bi-directional sharing of cutting edge research practices, content knowledge expertise, and access to investigative equipment. Partnerships also provide pre-service teachers with access to real classrooms where they can use best-practice teaching, learning, and assessment strategies and grow as professionals.
Central's six university centers give CESME the opportunity to improve P-20 science and mathematics learning throughout the state. Centers in Des Moines, Lynnwood, Pierce, Yakima, and Wenatchee offer science and mathematics education courses.
