IPSL & CWU: Research in Action

CWU is in the process of developing a partnership with IPSL and currently does not offer any of their programs. If you are interested in future trips through Central Washington University & IPSL, please contact our Continuing Education Department.

What is IPSL?

International Partnership for Service-Learning (IPSL), founded in 1982, is an international educational organization serving students, colleges, universities, service agencies, and related organizations around the world by fostering programs that link volunteer service to the community and academic study.  Are you adventurous? Do you want to gain global work experience? Learn another language? Conduct advocacy research? Read on.

CWU and IPSL will be partnering to offer students the opportunity to study, serve and conduct research in a foreign country while receiving credit. Coursework will be designated as UNIV 304: International Sustainable Development, which may qualify as a general elective course or may also count toward a student's specific major or minor course requirements as determined by each student's home university.

IPSL & CWU Research in Action Summer Program

During a 5-week, in-country program, students could earn 9 quarter credits (or 6 semester credits). Participants would live, serve, and conduct international, sponsored research in collaboration with local grassroots organizations. Students would engage in Advocacy Research and International Service-Learning. The program would include pre-departure and re-entry orientations.
