TARGET POPULATION: Middle school, high school, and alternative school students, with presentations to elementary students
MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Intervention Specialist is to provide direct substance abuse prevention and intervention services to students and their families regarding the students' involvement with alcohol and other drugs.
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES/PROGRAM OBJECTIVE: Works cooperatively with school counselors; provides consultation to school personnel regarding substance abuse; organizes and facilitates support groups for students currently using, living with a substance abuser, or students in recovery or who are abstaining; provides substance abuse education/training services with students, staff, and community; serves as liaison between community mental health and drug treatment agencies; works with school personnel to provide/arrange chemical dependency assessments.
