Student of the Quarter, Spring 2011
Alison Wilson is a Recreation and Tourism senior, expecting to graduate after Winter Quarter 2012. Pursuing an interest in special events, Alison interned at the Thorp Mill Town Historical Preservations Society as the Auction Coordinator for their Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction. She had previously worked with TMTHPS in a volunteer capacity and happily took on more responsibility.
During her internship, Alison worked closely with fellow RT students and the TMTHPS Board of Directors to hold the most profitable auction in the Thorp Mill history. The auction allows the Thorp Mill to remain open as an interpretive site and keeps the mill in working order.
About her internship, Alison says, “The most rewarding part of the internship… was seeing people from the community come together and really enjoy themselves.”
“Throughout all her various duties on the event, Alison displayed exceptional attention to detail, and did ‘what it took to get the job done’…. Despite her hard work, she was able to maintain a pleasant disposition and clearly takes pride in having good, appropriate relationships with all around her.” -Sheryl Leavitt, Site Supervisor, Thorp Mill Town Historical Preservation Society
