I am a junior at Central Washington University and I plan on majoring in Nutrition, with a possible specialization in Dietetics. I was born in Wenatchee, Washington, but I moved to Darby, Montana, when I was in the fifth grade. I obviously missed Washington because I moved back to attend school, which was a pretty big move for a girl who had always been with her parents.
I love working with people and I am a VERY talkative person, so any job that requires talking, I am all for that! I can be shy, though, so it all depends on the environment. Once I am comfortable, there is no stopping me. I am excited to be working with Career Services because it is a great way for me to work on my weaknesses and use my strengths. I enjoy helping others and this is an amazing opportunity to work with fellow students, as well as faculty.
This is my first year at Central Washington. I am originally from Bellevue, WA and have lived there the majority of my life. I graduated from Bellevue College with my Associate’s degree in Arts and Sciences, with a concentration in Theater Arts. My interests and hobbies are very diverse, and I get the most joy out of working with people and working within various creative outlets. I have transferred this year as a junior and I am pursuing a degree in Theater and Social Services (yes, I am aware that I am probably insane for wanting to graduate with two very different degrees). My goal is to pursue a job in social work during the day while I try to live the actor life at night. Eventually I plan on getting my Master’s degree in Social Work with hopes of working with children and youth, preferably in the mental health industry. In general, I have a goofy, warm-hearted personality and I love to make people laugh!
I am excited about joining the Peer Advising team, because it fuels my desire to help people. I am a compassionate person who enjoys helping people in many different capacities. I have a wide variety of work experience, and I hope to gain more experience with advising. I look forward to assisting students with their personal career development, as well as finding my own career development within this position. I have benefited in the past from career advising while I was obtaining my Associate’s degree, and I get excited about passing the information I benefitted from to other students.
I am in the business program here at CWU and I am working towards a dual specialization in both Marketing and Finance. I love sports and growing up in Kelso, WA I played football, basketball, (and my favorite) baseball for all four years. So upon graduation I would love to turn my degree into a business career in the sports industry.
My mom and dad are both public school teachers, and I think I got the passion to help teach from them. I also have one sister who is 16 months younger than me who will hopefully become a Central Wildcat next year! I have no pets, which is sad because I want a bulldog very badly. Unfortunately, I am also allergic to dogs and my apartment complex doesn’t allow dogs. So it is a work in progress.
This is my first quarter with Career Services so I am very excited to jump right in and start interacting and helping students. I am very grateful I have a job with these awesome peers and get to connect with people on a daily basis and help them with their professional goals.
