Exempt colleagues,

Do you want to be more engaged with the CWU community? Do you want to make the university a better place to work and to learn?  Your EEA needs you!

CWU’s Exempt Employee Association is dedicated to ensuring the university provides the very best environment for teaching, learning, research, and service, by:

  • Providing a unified voice for exempt employees (professional staff through administrators);
  • Developing and presenting recommendations to the university administration on employee welfare, including revisions to personnel policy and procedures;
  • Representing exempt employees on relevant university committees; and
  • Overseeing the Exempt Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year awards programs.

The EEA is guided by a nine-member executive committee, comprised of representatives from the Academic and Student Life, Business and Financial Affairs, Enrollment Management, Operations, and President’s Divisions, along with four at-large representatives.

Each representative serves a two-year term. For 2020-2021, there are five positions open for election. They are:

  • 1 Representative from Business and Financial Services;
  • 1 Representative from Operations;
  • 1 Representative from President’s Division
  • 1 Representatives at-large (can be from any division)

Nominations will be accepted for the 2020-2021 executive committee service through May 15. Nominations may be made via e-mail to exemptempassoc@cwu.edu. Any member of the campus community may nominate an exempt employee.

The current executive committee representatives who will continue to serve for the second year of their terms next year are:

  • Carolyn Thurston, EEA Executive Committee Chair, Academic and Student Life
  • Faith George, Enrollment Management
  • Patrick Coffey, Representative at-large
  • Wendy Holden, Representative at-large
  • Mel Palm, Representative at-large

Are you, or someone you know, able and willing to step up to fill an important campus role? Then encourage them to submit a nomination, or do it on their behalf. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any executive committee member if you have any questions.

Let’s all continue to work together to make CWU an even more effective organization than it is today.
