Outdoor Pursuits and Rentals (OPR) is hosting the Ropeless Rodeo—an intercollegiate bouldering competition—Saturday, March 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the CWU Climbing Wall. Spectators are encouraged to attend and admission is free.
The Ropeless Rodeo is part of the Northwest Collegiate Climbing Circuit (Nc3), one of the biggest collegiate circuits in the county. Nc3 also features stops at seven other Pacific Northwest schools, including the University of Washington and Western Washington University.
This Ropeless Rodeo sure to be an exciting event as the CWU Climbing Club attempts to ride its familiarity with the Climbing Wall to a strong finish. However, representatives from the seven other Nc3 schools also have their eyes on the top of the podium.
While at the Ropeless Rodeo, spectators will watch these skilled climbers performing a variety of low-altitude routes without the assistance of a rope. Competitors will be judged on multiple factors, including the difficulty of the route and how many attempts it took the climber to complete.
This event is sponsored by OPR, Petzl, Mountain Khakis, Sierra Designs, American Alpine Institute, Crimp Chimps, Entre Prises, Asana and Rock and Ice.
