Some state employees may qualify for free healthcare coverage for their children, and assistance in paying their health insurance premiums.
If your family’s countable income is under or close to 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level ($38,184 for a family of three), your children may qualify for enrollment in the Washington Apple Health for Kids program. Children enrolled in this program have a choice of available managed care plans depending on the county they live in. There are no premiums, co-pays, or deductibles for children enrolled in Washington Apple Health for Kids.
When your child is enrolled in Washington Apple Health for Kids, you may also choose to keep them on your health insurance through your employer. If you do so, you may qualify for reimbursement of the cost of your health insurance premium. This may benefit your family if you cannot afford the additional premium cost of insuring all of your dependents through your employer health insurance.
If you or your dependents are not enrolled in Washington Apple Health for Kids but you think you may qualify, visit the Washington Apple Health for Kids website at http://hrsa.dshs.wa.gov/applehealth/ or contact the Community Services Office in your community to see if you are eligible. You may also apply online at http://www.dshs.wa.gov/onlinecso/.
If you or your dependents become eligible for Washington Apple Health for Kids, you may qualify for help with your health insurance premium.
