The Center for Diversity and Social Justice Celebrates V-Day
Vagina Monologues Returns for its Third Performance at Central Washington University

January 16, 2013 (Ellensburg, Wash.) – The Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) at Central Washington University (CWU) is putting on its third performance of The Vagina Monologues on February 8th- 9th, 2013.

The Vagina Monologues is a vocal performance created by, playwright and founder of V-Day, Eve Ensler. Ensler interviewed 200 women and cataloged their words and accounts of their journey towards taking back the word and empowering others to do the same.

14 Students from Central Washington University auditioned to perform the monologues in October and began practicing soon after. The performers are putting in a lot of work to stay true to the artistic nature of the play and be sensitive to the topic at hand.

“The most rewarding part of directing this show has most definitely been working with this wonderful group of women. I'm actually the youngest one working on this production, so to have everyone else around to help out, and to be supportive even outside of the actual show is always the best part of any show,” said Director, Shelby Brock-Bauder.

There will be three performance times; 7 PM on Friday, and 2 PM & 7PM on Saturday. Tickets are seven dollars for CWU students and ten dollars for general admission.

All proceeds will benefit the V-Day campaign, and ASPEN, Abuse Support and Prevention Education Now, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence. Sponsors for the program include Central VOX, Planned Parenthood, CWU Russian Club and Central Catering.
