TODAY! CAH Speaker Series presents "Bitter Streams: Skewed Family Dynamics in the Films of Alfred Hitchcock"

4:00 - 5:15 p.m.

Black Hall 150

Liahna Armstrong, Professor of English and Film Studies, presents a segment of her current writing and editing project. Armstrong is co-editor of a forthcoming collection of scholarly essays tentatively titled Hitchcock's Children, which probes the auteur's often unsettling and disturbing depictions of children. The collection is comprised of fifteen essays by various academic scholars and includes an introductory essay by Armstrong addressing Hitchcock's paradoxical agendas of both validating the Western ideal of the bourgeois family, and simultaneously subverting its legitimacy by exposing its propensity for psychosexual pathology.
