Less than one week left to register!

Free Workshop on Using Primary Documents for Pre-Service and Qualified Teachers --
Denshō, the Japanese American Legacy Project, invites qualified and pre-service teachers to a free workshop April 20 from 10 AM to 3 PM in Black Hall.  “Learn how to access and use primary source materials to develop analysis and reasoning skills.” The World War II incarceration of Japanese Americans will be the subject used as the basis of these activities. This topic is excellent in supporting historical awareness, inclusiveness and diversity, and civil rights while developing information literacy and thinking skills. Targeting middle school and high school humanities teachers, this program is also suitable for those who are teaching or plan to teach upper elementary school and lower level college students. Brooks Library is proud to host this opportunity for teachers, education instructors, and education students. Lunch and “a CD including lesson ideas aligned to state and Common Core standards, primary source materials, tips, and tools” will be provided to participants. For more information - including an opportunity to earn a stipend for work after the workshop - see their web site at  http://www.densho.org/learning/default.asp?path=workshops/workshop.asp Please sign up by Wednesday, April 3 by contacting Lisa at Brooks Library, (509) 963-1642 or eusterli AT cwu.edu.
