Student Loan Phishing Scam Alert

Recently a student received a voicemail that said the student had requested a student loan and to return the call the number. The person who answered the phone indicated that the student had been offered a loan. They then wanted his bank account info. Fortunately, the student got suspicious and hung up.

“Phishing” scams are the use of fraudulent e-mails or other solicitations to lure users into sharing personal information that can be used for identity theft or other illegal activities. No legitimate business (bank, eBay, CWU, etc.) will ever contact you and require that you share your personal information (bank number/PIN, security codes, or passwords).
