Seeking Student Volunteers-DACA Lounge Exhibit

The Department of Art + Design will have Horatio Law, a visiting artist from Portland, Oregon, in the department from February 5 through February 16.  Horatio is looking for student collaborators to participate in developing some of the content for his exhibit in the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery. The exhibit is titled DACA Lounge--A Dream Sanctuary.

Horatio will be creating audio recordings or video recordings of undocumented students who would like to share stories about their experiences. If safety is a concern and students would prefer to remain anonymous, precautions will be taken to hide their identity. If you know of anyone who would like to help, they can feel free to contact Heather Horn Johnson, Gallery Manager, at heather.johnson@cwu.edu, or 509.963.3153.

DACA Lounge is an art installation inspired by the plight and courage of DACA students, who dare to “dream” despite their difficult and uncharted circumstances. The DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) Lounge invites all of us to dream in solidarity, and encourages quietude and calmness that are conducive to thoughtful contemplation, imagination, and meditation.
