The CWU Law and Justice Club is teaming up with University Recreation to host the Behind the Badge 5k Fun Run Saturday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. to benefit families of fallen and injured police officers. Registration is $15 and is available at the Recreation Center front desk or online at www.cwu.edu/rec. Participants will receive a t-shirt and a portion of the registration fee will go directly to the Behind the Badge Foundation.
Last year’s event raised approximately $500, but this year the portion of each registration fee donated to the charity will double, increasing from $5 to $10. The funds raised will benefit an organization that steps in when tragedy strikes the law enforcement community.
The foundation offers a variety of assistance to families of fallen and injured officers. Helping can be as simple as taking the widow of a fallen officer out to coffee, or providing financial assistance for things like counseling and childcare.
