Plan on attending the two-day summer institute on High Impact Practices on Friday June 21st and Friday June 28th. High Impact Practices (HIPs) are those which have been shown to have substantial educational benefits – particularly enhanced student success. Examples include First Year Seminars and Experiences, Common Intellectual Experiences, Learning Communities, Writing-Intensive Courses, Undergraduate Research, Collaborative Assignments and Projects, Diversity and Global Learning, Service Learning and Community-based Learning, Internships, Capstone Courses and Projects.
Intentional design of curricular activities and student support services combined with enhanced cooperation among academic and student success units can ensure that more students have access to, and success in, these essential components of an engaging college experience.
Please join us this summer for two days of learning, planning, and productive discussions as we
• Explore ways to integrate HIPs in the courses, programs, and services we offer students.
• Develop a personal (or team) action plan.
• Identify necessary support structures and resources for success in AY 13-14.
