The Wellness Center will host the photography art exhibit “PhotoVoice” Thursday, Jan. 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Wellington Event Center, located in Barto Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
This one-day exhibit is an opportunity for students to display their relationship with alcohol through photographs. Each submission is attempting to represent what the “drinking” culture at CWU is really like. Most of the submissions show that alcohol is a very small part of student-life at Central.
“It’s narrowing the gap between somebody’s perception and reality,” said Andrea Easlick, CWU Wellness Center health educator. “Between what people think happens and what actually happens.”
In addition to the photos, several statistics that the Wellness Center has compiled about drinking on campus will be on display. Both the numbers and photographs show most CWU students make low risk choices when it comes to alcohol.
This year, “PhotoVoice” attendees will be able to share their opinions on the various photos in a new way. A computer will be available at the exhibit for visitors to type comments, which will then be displayed at the exhibit on a projector in real time.
