Poverty Simulation: Wed Feb 5th

Poverty Simulation
Wed, February 5th, Sue Dining Room
Sign-up to attend!

A Poverty Simulation is a role-playing exercise where students will be assuming the role of a low-income family for four 15-minute "weeks." Other volunteers (faculty, staff, community members) will be playing the roles of community agencies and businesses. The task of each family is to provide food, shelter and other basic necessities during the simulation while interacting with various community resources. It is a powerful experience that  builds a greater awareness of the issues facing people in poverty, and helps build a foundation for change – personally, professionally, and in our communities.

  • Student participants are invited to attend from 1 - 4 pm.
  • Faculty, Staff, and Community volunteers are invited to attend from 12 - 4 pm, as there will be some orientation needed for your roles before the simulation begins.

Students, staff, faculty and community members are all welcome, so spread the word! If you plan to participate, please sign up as soon as possible using the electronic form below.
