The second speaker in the OPR Speaker Series is Brock Gavery, a Seattle man who pushes his physical endurance to the limit. Gavery is speaking Thursday, Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in SURC 137 A&B. Admission is free and open to the public.
Come listen to Gavery discuss his journey on one of the most physically daunting tasks ever performed by a human—the triple threat.
In August of 2010 Gavery conquered the Mt. Ranier Triple Threat - biking 120 miles from Seattle to the base of Mt. Rainer, then climbing to the summit of Mt. Rainier and finishing it off with a 93-mile run down the Wonderland Trail. And he did all of this in 80 hours.
In September, Gavery completed the Glacier Peak Triple Threat. Once again, he rode a bicycle 120 miles from Seattle to Glacier Peak, reached the summit of the 10,541-foot mountain, then ran more than 95 miles around the mountain.
Other than his own experiences, Gavery will also discuss tips on being an endurance athlete and be sharing pictures and video from his adventures.
