A Student's Perspective

"Growing up and having people tell you that you're going to do great things only goes so far when you don't have representation at different scales of society. This is one among many social phenomena that we are addressing here at the Triunfar Research Group.

"Through semi structured interviews and critical, focused dialog, we are deeply exploring the narrative surrounding the subjective experience of Latinx public officials, and of pioneers in public service as they rose to power. As we come to better understand the nature of their struggles, it is our hope that we can help ourselves and others become better equipped to climb to new heights."

- Samuel J. Gutierrez, Senior, BS-Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, BA-Anthropology
