MLK: Make a Difference

January 10, 2018 – January 11, 2018
8 am - 2:30 pm
SURC Theater and Ballroom

Martin Luther King Jr. is celebrated as one of the most significant leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. This MLK Day, join the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement (CLCE) and the Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) in teaching students from Mt. Stuart Elementary about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy on to the next generation.
The CLCE is seeking volunteers to guide elementary students through a number of activities, such as writing about leadership, roleplaying various civil rights situations and making signs for a peace walk. Hosting 2nd, and 3rd grade students on January 10th; 4th and 5th grade students on January 11th, students from Mt. Stuart Elementary will participate in a variety of these activities taking place in the SURC Theater and Ballroom.

THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR EDUCATION MAJORS TO GET HANDS ON EXPERIENCE.

Visit the CLCE in SURC 256 to start volunteering. If you have volunteered with the CLCE before, you can sign up for volunteer opportunities at www.cwu.edu/leadership-engage. For more information, call (509) 963-1850 or email clce@cwu.edu (Subject: “ATTN: Make a Difference”).
