GET YOUR TICKETS! Wrestling Champion/Nike Athlete Anthony Robles TONIGHT

Wrestling champion Anthony Robles is coming to CWU to share his story of courage and perseverance Thursday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the SURC Ballroom. Robles will not only discuss his achievements, but also the struggles—both on and off the mat—he has overcome. Tickets are free and available at www.cwu.edu/tickets. Be sure to get one today to ensure your seat!

College wrestling isn’t the most publicized sport, but the nation was watching two years ago when Robles took home the 125-pound individual championship despite being born with only one leg. The national title was the culmination of his wrestling career, where he was a three-time All-American at Arizona State, and launched him into “cult-hero” status among sports fans.

Robles’ accomplishments on the mat have earned him a job as a wrestling analyst at ESPN and a spot in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. He also signed an endorsement deal with Nike following his time at Arizona State, making him the first “Nike Athlete” to be signed despite being retired from the sport. Robles was also been honored with the ESPN’s Jimmy V Perseverance Award and the NFL Hispanic Heritage Leadership Award.

Robles wrote a book, “Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated - How I became a Champion,” chronicling his unlikely rise to the pinnacle of American wrestling. Robles will be signing copies of his book after the event, which will be available for purchase.
