Ra Ra Ra Reel Rock! OPR Brings Climbing to the Silver Screen
Attention all climbers, outdoor enthusiasts, adrenaline junkies and anyone curious about what these three groups have in common! OPR is once again bringing the intense climbing action of the Reel Rock International Film Tour to CWU Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7:35 p.m. in the SURC Theatre. Tickets are $8 for CWU students and Recreation Center members, $12 for non-members and are available at www.cwu.edu/tickets or at the door.
This year marks the seventh tour, and the short films are more extreme than ever. In “The Dura Dura,” climbing legend Chris Sharma battles against the young climbing prodigy Alex Ondra to establish the world’s first 5.15c route, a climb that, if successful, would push the modern classification limits to the edge. “Wide Boys” features two climbers from “across the pond” who are set on proving that proper British lads can conquer even the hardest of crack-climbs, including attempting the first ascent of Century Crack.
These aren’t the only film features in this year’s round up, so grab your tickets now and join OPR in celebrating the brave—and perhaps a little bit crazy—climbers setting new records and shredding pervious limits.
