Germany and the European Union | Series of events bring international opportunities to CWU students, staff and faculty.

Notice Type: 

Germany and the European Union is a two-week series of events dedicated to informing and debating about the past, present and future of the EU, and to opening opportunities for all students, faculty and community members to study, work, cooperate and do business in Germany and the EU.

All events are free and open to the general public.

Schedule of Events

November 7 @ 7 p.m.
Film screening of “Joyeux Noël (PG-13) in Lind 104
"In the middle of World War I, on Christmas Day, they stopped fighting – why? This is their true story.

November 8 @ 7 p.m.
Film screening of “The Lives of Others” (R) in Lind 104

When love meets the surveillance state. In communist East Germany, a secret agent listens into the life of a couple – and this will change everyone involved.

November 9 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the SURC Ballroom
Career/Opportunity Fair: “Opportunities in Germany and the EU” 

Opportunities to study abroad, do internships, work, do business with, or cooperate with partners in Germany and the EU

November 14 @ 7 p.m.
Film screening of “Run Lola Run” (R) in Lind 104

The difference between life and death is a split second – so she has to run.

November 15 @ 7 p.m.
Film screening of “Almanya – Welcome to Germany” (NR) in Lind 104

The funny tale of three generations of Turkish immigrants to Germany.

November 16 from 6-8 p.m. in the Science II Planetarium
"The Future of the EU," a roundtable discussion and reception
A dialogue on the future of the EU, featuring:

  • Klaus Botzet, Minister Counsellor, Head of the Political, Security and Development Section, Delegation  of the European Union to the USA
  • Prof. Kurt Hübner, Jean Monnet Chair for European Integration and Global Political Economy,  University of British Columbia
  • Nico Lange, Director, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung USA
