Sarah Spurgeon Gallery will feature a solo exhibition by Portland artist Cara Tomlinson titled "Adjacent Possibles: Recent painting, sculpture and video." Please join us for the opening events on Friday, November 2, beginning with an artist's talk at 4:00 p.m. in Randall Hall, room. 117. The talk will be immediately followed by an opening reception in the gallery from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Cara Tomlinson is Associate Professor of Art and Studio Head of Painting at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She earned her undergraduate degree from Bennington College and her M.F.A. from the University of Oregon. Among other national exhibits and awards, she recently received a 2012 Individual Artist Fellowship from the Oregon Arts Commission and exhibited her work in the Oregon Governor’s Office. The title of the exhibit, Adjacent Possibles, is a theory in evolutionary biology that has been used to discuss the origins of innovative ideas, and how those ideas are shaped by the creator’s process and environment. www.caratomlinson.com
