Fire and Ice Part II: Climate Change and the Impact on PNW Ecosystems

The MCE continues its conversation from Fall 2017 ("Fire and Ice") on the impacts of climate change in the Pacific Northwest by looking at biology.  The exhibition Our Changing Pacific Northwest explains how rising temperatures and 20th century fire suppression cause larger wildfires, and that soot from wildfires speeds up melting of glaciers.  But what does the bigger picture look like for the ecosystem we are part of?

Join us for the evening as we listen and engage with speakers Paul James, an expert on PNW streams and fish, and Clay Arango, an expert on fire and the effects on spruce budworms.

For more information about these or other events hosted at the MCE in Dean Hall, email Museum@cwu.edu or call (509) 963-2313.  All MCE events are free and open to the public.  MCE’s address is 1200 Wildcat Way, Ellensburg, WA, 98926. Parking on CWU campus is free after 4:30 PM on weekdays, and on Saturdays.
