Following an internal university search, Gail Farmer and Veronica Gomez-Vilchis have been selected to oversee CWU’s Equal Opportunity and Professional Development area. Farmer has accepted the administrator position and Gomez-Vilchis will serve as program specialist.
“Gail and Veronica bring a wealth of knowledge to these positions in addition to their established on- and off-campus relationships,” said Staci Sleigh-Layman, CWU director of Employment, Student Services, and Compliance, who oversees Equal Opportunity and Professional Development. “Each of them has in-depth understanding of the various components of equal opportunity and professional development and are valuable additions to the Human Resources team.”
Farmer has been with the university since October 1999, most recently serving as director of the Wildcat Wellness Center. Gomez-Vilchis was the Bridges Project coordinator from 2003 to 2009 and, most recently, served with the university’s TRiO program.
Gomez-Vilchis’s position is being funded, in part, through the university offices of the Inclusivity Coordinator and Dean of Student Success.
Both Farmer and Gomez-Vilchis assumed their new posts on Tuesday, October 16.
