Earth Month - City Drain Stenciling

Notice Type:
Event Date:
Sat, 04/06/2019
Event Time:
8:30am - 1:00pm

Earth Month Event:

All storm drainage systems, nationwide, are for the collection of rainwater from private parking lots and public roadways. Whatever washes from private property into the streets, ends up in the nearest stream, lake or river untreated.

Volunteers will help educate the public about this matter by spray painting a stencil at each drain, so the public knows not to put pollutants into the drain system. Overall, you are doing your part to help keep the Yakima River and its tributaries cleaner. Free t-shirt and lunches are provided, but you must register by March 29th to get a free shirt!

*Be sure to wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty and closed toed shoes.

Visit the CLCE office in SURC 256 (upstairs) to start volunteering. If you have volunteered with the CLCE before, you can sign up for the City Drain Stenciling at For more information, call (509)963-1850 or email (Subject: “City Drain Stenciling")
