Drive-thru Flu Vaccination Clinic Oct. 9

The Kittitas County Public Health Department (KCPHD) will hold a drive-thru flu vaccination clinic on October 9, 2012, in the parking lot of the Grand Meridian Cinema located at 504 East Mountain View Avenue in Ellensburg. Anyone can get a flu shot between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm. Vaccinations are free for children 18 and under; vaccinations for adults are $30.00, check or cash.

KCPHD has been conducting drive-thru flu vaccination clinics since 2003.  The department uses the annual drive-thru flu clinic to practice for the possibility of a disease outbreak that would either require vaccinating or distributing medication to large numbers of people in Kittitas County.

Getting vaccinated is the best way to prevent getting the flu and now you can protect yourself without even getting out of your car.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone over the age of 6 months receive a flu shot every year.

It is especially important for certain groups of people to be vaccinated every year including:

  • -Children aged six months up to their sixth birthday, but especially children younger than two years old,
  • -Pregnant women,
  • -People 65 years of age or older,
  • -People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions,
  • -People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, and
  • -People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from the flu.
