Different Ways of Knowing: Culturally Competent and Responsive Pedagogy for African American Students

The Center for Teaching and Learning presents its professional development series "Different Ways of Knowing" on Oct. 24, 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. in the Wellington Event Center in Barto Hall. A stellar panel of community activists, educators, and scholars will discuss the context and meaning of culturally competent and responsive pedagogy for African American students. The panel includes Ester Huey and Adrianne Gardner from the E. Yakima Community Center; Tricia Diamond from The Highline School District; Dr. Debra Sullivan, President of the Black Child Development Institute; and Dr. Geneva Gay, renowned author of Culturally Responsive Teaching.
