CWU Theatre Ensemble Presents:
The Transition of Doodle Pequeño

It's Halloween in Southern California, and Doodle is anxious to trick-or-treat after his father is deported to Mexico. He soon meets Reno, a self-proclaimed "vaudeville vampire," wearing a tutu. Doodle dons a skirt of his own, and the two (plus Doodle's imaginary goat friend Valencia) go on a unique and challenging adventure through the streets of Santa Ana.

The Transition of Doodle Pequeño is a magic-filled, multiple award-winning play for all ages about two boys who become friends in spite of their differences. It examines the consequences of misused language, provides insight into the lives of Mexican-immigrant children and interrogates the issues of gender-identity and homophobic bullying.

Originally written and produced by Gabriel Jason Dean, this special production will be run by CWU's Central Theatre Ensemble. Learn more about the Theatre Arts program at
