Wednesday Evening, Chamber Choir will be presenting Maurice Duruflé’s setting of the Requiem Mass. The concert will take place at the Ellensburg Presbyterian Church, beginning at 7 pm.
This 40 minute work is one of the more important choral masterworks of the 20th century. Duruflé based much of the requiem on actual plainchant found in the Liber
Usualis – melding it with a 20th century harmonic language. The result is a sublime, intensely intimate
Maria Roditeleva-Wibe will accompany on the organ. The choir's conductor is Director Of Choral Studies' faculty member Gary Weidenaar.
There is no admission charge. A free-will offering to defray expenses will be collected.
