In this presentation, Dr. Coe will trace the intersecting
and contradictory ways in which refugees are framed in
contemporary rhetoric, and discuss the workings of the
moral emotion of compassion, drawing on the work of
Emmanuel Levinas, Cora Diamond, and Judith Butler.
