Polyfest 2016

Due to Central Washington University’s plethora of diversity, the Poly Central was able to put on yet another amazing Polyfest! CWU students and athletes put aside their school work for weeks in order to come together bringing this annual tradition of celebrating Polynesian culture to life.

Polyfest is a cultural celebration of Polynesia through art, dance and food. Poly Central took the audience on a theatrical tour of six islands including Samoa, Hawaii, Fiji, Tonga, Tahiti and New Zealand. At each island a brief lesson was shared about its origins and traditions which is what grew an appreciation for their culture.

Prior to the event, CWU Poly fest hosted an outdoor Barbeque in front of McConnell Hall where they got to share more of their culture with the students. They served mouthwatering Polynesian food and with the Polynesian inspired music it was definitely a great moment for students.

With several dances, and beautifully designed attire the CWU Polyfest students gave a performance of a lifetime.
