Jenny Cravens, MAC, CPA
P.R. O'Shaughnessy Executive Professor
May 2016 Message from Dean Martell: I am delighted to announce that Jenny Cravens, long-time active advisory board member, will be joining the College in the Fall as the first P.R. O’Shaughnessy Executive Professor of Accounting. As many of you know, an endowment was started in 1999 to commemorate the teaching career of the iconic Accounting Professor, Pat O’Shaughnessy (PRO). Professor O’Shaughnessy joined CWU in 1966 and dedicated himself for 33 years to the Accounting students at CWU. Before his death last year, PRO knew that the endowment named for him had surpassed the $1 million mark. The purpose of the endowment is to provide funds to enable the department of Accounting to select outstanding members from the profession to teach and mentor students at CWU. It is expected that the Executive Professor, in addition to teaching, will devote him/herself to teaching and to strengthening the relationship between students, faculty and accounting professionals.
Jenny Cravens has over 20 years of industry leadership experience. Most recently, she served as Chief Financial Officer of Cashmere Valley Bank, the 9th largest bank headquartered in Washington. Prior to that, she held senior leadership, finance and accounting positions with Bank of America, Countrywide Financial, Washington Mutual, T-Mobile and United Bank. Her experience includes multiple mergers and acquisitions with Washington Mutual, Bank of America and T-Mobile, including the international acquisition of VoiceStream by T-Mobile. Jenny’s positions have included specialization in Sarbanes Oxley, Technical Accounting and Policy, M&A Implementation, Fair Value Accounting, Internal Audit and Investment & treasury management.
Jenny began her career in business in West Virginia in 1991. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and a Master of Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a Licensed Certified Public Accountant with the State of Washington, and practiced public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Seattle.
