Basic Responsibilities

As a science technician and manager of the Biology Stockroom, my job is to work with faculty in supporting class and laboratory needs. Jonathan and I are both departmental science techs, and do overlap in some of these areas.

Area of Emphasis

  • Manage operation of the Biology Stockroom
  • Purchase and receive goods for labs, field and office
  • Maintain records of purchases, Procard budgets, service contracts
  • Coordinate laboratory preparations with faculty, teaching assistants
  • Maintain chemical inventory using barcode system
  • Locate and check out lab and field equipment, cabinet keys, videos
  • Assist faculty in labs or on field trips
  • Supervise student employees in stockroom-related jobs
  • Train students in chemical and lab safety issues
  • Oversee departmental equipment inventory
  • Coordinate with EHS on hazardous waste disposal
  • Coordinate with EHS on Chemical Hygiene Plans for lab areas
  • Coordinate and lead tours to Engelhorn Pond, Greenhouse, Science Facility
  • Act as building monitor for Biology Department
