The Department of Biological Sciences, in conjunction with the Museum of Culture and Environment, and the Geology and Mathematics Departments, would like to invite all interested faculty, staff, and administrators to a celebration of the science of evolution and Darwin’s contributions to our modern world.
Darwin’s birthday is on Tuesday, the 12th of February and we have planned a wide-ranging series of talks this year. We want to invite the larger community to come listen to discussions of modern evolutionary theory ranging from fungi to orchids, primates to fish, with some history and geological context of the Yakima River Canyon thrown in to boot! The overarching theme of the talks is that through understanding biological evolution we come to understand life. The talks begin at 10:00 on Tuesday and that same evening our keynote speaker Paul James will talk about the evolution of the amazing migration of fish, from mountain streams to the sea, and back again.
We hope to see you at this interdisciplinary celebration of Darwin and the science of evolution!
