Colloquium: Experiences of Early Daoist Masters

Dr. Littlejohn, Chair of Philosophy and Director of Asian Studies at Belmont University, will give a public talk titled "Experiences of Early Daoist Masters" on Monday, February 25 from 5:00-7:00 PM in Black Hall room 150.  All are welcome to attend.  Light refreshments will be provided.

Dr. Littlejohn examines the religious experiences of the masters of the dao and their connections with underground chambers, caves, and grottoes. In addition to linking these activities to seminal texts such as the Daodejing and Zhuangzi, he argues that this connection continues throughout later Daoist lineage histories. He also explores comparisons between Daoist, Biblical and ancient Greek mystical experiences.
