(Ellensburg, Wash. – Oct. 22, 2013) Have a question about the state’s upcoming General Election? Not sure where to turn in your ballot? The Associated Students of CWU-Board of Directors (ASCWU-BOD) and the CWU Center for Leadership and Community Engagement (CLCE) will be hosting an Election Assistance Center Monday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) room 137. The Election Assistance Center is free and open to all voters.
“We will have computers set up so anyone can come in and print out their ballot for any county in Washington state. They can fill out their ballot and drop it off right there,” says Cassandra DuBore, ASCWU-BOD vice-president of Legislative Affairs.
Constituents will be voting on statewide ballot measures including I-517 regarding penalties for interfering with or retaliating against signature gatherers and petition signers as well as I-522 concerning the labeling of genetically engineered food, just to name a few. There are also three special state Senate races as well as numerous local and county races and measures.
Kittitas County Auditor Jerry Pettit will be providing the Election Assistance Center with two temporary ballot boxes to make sure every vote is counted.
