Faculty Achievement Awards

The College of Arts and Humanities takes great pride in recognizing the outstanding work of its faculty. Please take the opportunity to nominate a faculty member for an achievement award.

Each recipient will be celebrated and presented with an award, along with other honorees, at the College of the Arts and Humanities Year-End Celebration on May 8, 2018 in the SURC Ballroom from 5-7 PM.

Candidates may be nominated for an award by faculty, staff, or students within the College of Arts and Humanities. Self-nominations are not accepted. 

Your nomination must be received by the Dean's office by 5 p.m. on March 16, 2018. If you need an extension, please contact the Dean’s office at (509) 963- 1853 for approval.

Award Descriptions

Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award

This award is given annually to a tenured or tenure-track CAH faculty member to recognize significant achievement at CWU in innovative teaching strategies, curriculum and/or program development, and positive impact on student learning. Please attach a copy of the nominee’s vita and provide a brief narrative argument for the quality of the nominee’s teaching, explaining how it represents a significant achievement in innovative teaching strategies, curriculum and/or program development, and impact on student learning. Submit supporting materials such as reviews, awards, syllabi, SEOI’s or other forms of recognition.

Outstanding Faculty Research Award

This award is given annually to a tenured or tenure-track CAH faculty member to recognize research at CWU that represents significant cumulative achievement and/or individual work that has salient impact on the field. Please attach a copy of the nominee’s vita and provide a brief narrative argument for the importance and quality of the nominated research, explaining how it represents significant achievement and/or a salient impact on its field. Submit supporting materials such as reviews, awards, citations, or other forms of recognition. Supporting materials should also address the award criteria and the scholarly merit of the applicant’s work.

Outstanding Faculty Artistic Achievement Award

This award is given annually to a tenured or tenure-track CAH faculty member to recognize work or performance done while at CWU that represents significant cumulative artistic achievement and/or individual work that has salient impact on the field. Please attach a copy of the nominee’s vita and provide a brief narrative argument for the importance and quality of the nominee’s work or performance, explaining how it represents significant achievement and/or a salient impact on its field. Submit supporting materials such as reviews, awards, citations, or other forms of recognition.

Outstanding Faculty Service Award

This award is given annually to a tenured or tenure-track CAH faculty member to recognize significant achievement at CWU in voluntary service activities. Please attach a copy of the nominee’s vita and provide a brief narrative argument for the quality of the nominee’s service, explaining how nominee has applied his/her academic expertise to the improvement of individuals, professional organizations, university groups, the community at large, and/or the university, with evidence of the scope of effort and level of commitment. 

Outstanding Non-tenure Track Faculty Teaching Award

This award is given annually to a CAH non-tenure track faculty member to recognize significant achievement in innovative teaching strategies and a positive impact on student learning. The nominee must be a full- or part-time non-tenure track faculty member teaching at least 15 credits in the College of Arts and Humanities during academic year 2016-2017. Please attach a copy of the nominee’s vita and provide a brief narrative argument for the quality of the nominee’s teaching, explaining how it represents a significant achievement in innovative teaching strategies and fosters a positive impact on student learning  Submit supporting materials such as reviews, awards, syllabi, SEOI’s, or other forms of recognition.
