Artist Gregg Schlanger is opening a new installation at the Spokane Falls Community College Fine Art Gallery and is seeking help from area residents.
The exhibit is titled “Mapping the Spokane River,” and it will run from Sept. 23 to Oct. 18. Schlanger, who teaches art and is the art department chairman at Central Washington University, is encouraging people to submit photos of activity along the Spokane River (submitted via Facebook or printed no larger than 8-by-10 inches and brought to the gallery), stories of the river (posted to the Facebook page or written in person on the map at the gallery), or a water sample taken from the river. Bring a container of water to the gallery and prepare to mark where you gathered it on a map.
